Kokoa Twitter Link Fixer

Links to Twitter profiles in the old #! format, fixed to x.com in a single pass.

What it does

It searches your blog's content for Twitter links in the old #!/username format (or its encoded variant #%21/username), including those on mobile.twitter.com and m.twitter.com, and proposes rewriting them to https://x.com/username. It checks posts, pages and drafts.

You decide what changes: you review the proposed changes and apply the ones you want. Before writing to each post it checks that nobody has edited it since the analysis; if it has changed, it skips it and asks you to analyse again.

Why a redirect is not enough

Everything after the # in an address stays in the browser and never reaches the server. That is why these links cannot be fixed with a redirect: they have to be changed in the content itself, and doing it by hand on a blog with years of posts takes a long time and it is easy to miss some.

How it works

  1. Activate the plugin and go to Tools → Fix Twitter Links: you see every affected post with its Cambios propuestos (Proposed changes), from the old address to the new one.
  2. Untick the posts you do not want to touch (they all start ticked) and press Aplicar cambios seleccionados (Apply selected changes).
  3. The page confirms when there are no links left matching the pattern.

Requirements

  • WordPress 5.2 or later and PHP 7.4 or later.
