The YouTube videos you pasted in by hand years ago, turned into blocks that fit any screen.
What it does
Adds a panel with a button to the block editor's sidebar. When you press it, it checks the saved content of the post and replaces every old-style YouTube embed with a native YouTube video block, responsive and in 16:9.
It recognises five kinds of embed: iframes inside a paragraph, inside an HTML block, in classic HTML without blocks or on their own, and old Flash objects. It accepts youtube.com, youtube-nocookie.com and youtu.be links. The change is saved to the database straight away and the editor refreshes itself; if there is nothing to convert, it tells you and leaves the post alone.
Why it is worth it
An iframe pasted in by hand usually has a fixed width and height: on mobile it overflows the screen or looks distorted, and in the editor it shows up as a chunk of HTML rather than a video. The WordPress video block adapts to the available width and keeps its proportions, without touching the theme.

kokoa-youtube-embed-fixer-2.pngHow it works
- Open the post in the block editor and find the YouTube Embed Fixer panel in the settings sidebar.
- Save the post and press Fix YouTube Embeds.
- The plugin saves the converted post and reloads the blocks in the editor. A notice confirms the conversion or tells you there were no videos to convert.
Requirements
- The WordPress block editor.
- Licensed under GPL v2 or later.
